The Worship and Music team (W&M) is responsible for helping the Pastors to plan, prepare for and lead worship services and worship related events throughout the year. From making sure the weekly services are set up and staffed to preparing for special holidays, there is something for everyone to do when they get involved with W&M. Take a look and see where you fit in!

The tasks of Worship and Music are accomplished by three distinct groups:

Worship & Music Team
The W&M team meets the third Sunday of the month at 12:30 PM to plan for general worship needs. The calendar is discussed as well as items that need attention. If you are interested in helping prepare for worship services and special worship events, this is the group for you.
Worship Planning
The Worship Planning Group meets on the first Sunday of the month at 12:30 PM. We read the upcoming Scripture lessons, prayerfully discern what the upcoming themes for worship will be, then choose songs for the Sunday morning worship services. It is a wonderfully creative and faithfilled process. Come join the fun!
Musical Ensembles
Our Music Director works closely with W&M to provide music that is liturgically and contextually appropriate and with both traditional and contemporary worship ensembles, including:

Children’s Choir

Many hands go into providing meaningful worship at Cross of Life. Here are some of the ways you might wish to get involved. Just let our W&M Team Leader know of your interest.

We also have a number of subteams at work in the congregation:

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild plays an important part in keeping our altar, pulpit, lectern and banners current with the liturgical calendar. They are also responsible for setting up and cleaning up for Communion and baptisms.
Banners
This group maintains and creates the beautiful banners we use in our worship services.
Chrismons
Our Chrismon team maintains our collection of Chrismons by fixing damaged ornaments and creating new ones. They are responsible for storing the ornaments and getting them out to be put on the trees in December.
Funeral Guild
The Funeral Guild works with the Pastors to prepare the sanctuary for funerals and memorial services. The guild prepares the funeral pall, coordinates service details with personnel from funeral homes and prepares the sanctuary for the next worship service.
Seasonal Services and Activities
There are many liturgical and congregational special events in which W&M has a role: Christmas, Easter, concerts, summer activities, etc. There are lots of opportunities for people to organize and help make these events happen.
Wedding Guild
The Wedding Guild works with the Pastors and the wedding party and helps with the rehearsal and wedding. Guild members are at church on the days of the rehearsal and wedding to assist as needed.
