Children’s Sunday school is a fun and vibrant part of our ministry at Cross of Life. We’re excited to continue our children’s faith journey during this time of physical distancing. Our Sunday school program has been modified to accommodate remote Sunday school that can be implemented at home as a family. Our adult and youth volunteers do a wonderful job of passing on our faith in caring and age-appropriate ways and that will not change! Children will deepen their knowledge of the Bible and their faith, make valuable friendships with Christian friends, and get to know caring adults who support them in their faith formation.

Schedule

For the 2020-2021 school year, Sunday school will be starting remotely. Our first Sunday of instruction will be September 13. We will provide required materials for registered participants through a drive-thru pickup every other week with the materials for two weeks of remote Sunday school.

Our program this year focuses on deeper dives into Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments that we all know and love through multiple methods of teaching, including reading and discussing the stories, arts and crafts, and even cooking. These family style Sunday school lessons can be done on Sundays or any day of the week as they will be performed individually by each child/family unit. To supplement these lessons, virtual support from our adult and youth volunteers will be ongoing and will include videos, sharing of projects between families, and virtual meetings with each class.

As distancing restrictions change, our ability to meet as small groups for Sunday school may also change. Please stay tuned for more information on the schedule.

Registration

Please see the registration form below which is required for participation in our Sunday school program. When we are able to transition to in-person instruction, a revised registration form will be sent that includes details regarding signing children in and out. For everyone’s safety, children 2nd grade and younger must be signed in and out of class by a parent or another approved adult.  You may designate other adults authorized to sign your child in and out of Sunday School on the Registration form, which is available at the link above.  Thank you for complying with this policy and keeping our kids safe.

Curriculum

Our Sunday School Curriculum is “Spark Lectionary” published by 1517 Media (ELCA).  These lessons are rotational Bible story based and can be applied remotely within family units as well as used for in-person Sunday school. This allows whole families to engage in familiar scripture each week.
